Course Outline
This course is designed as an interactive course with PowerPoint slides, video clips, flash animation, photographs from safety audits, case studies and MCQ test.
Course Objectives
After completion of this course personnel should be able to:
- Recognise and manage chemical hazards
- Understand new GHS/CLP chemical labelling and hazard definitions
- Understand the hazards of specific chemicals used on site
- Recognise how chemicals can enter the body
- Implement safe work skills and best practice in chemical handling in laboratory and other settings
- Utilise PPE and engineering controls appropriately and understand potential limitations
- Identify chemical hygiene issues in their own work area
- Store chemicals in a safe manner
- Read and understand a chemical Safety Data Sheet
Applicability
This course is aimed at all personnel working with chemicals in laboratories, work rooms, industrial settings etc. Up to 20 delegates can attend.
Documentation
Full course handouts will be provided to participants. A course evaluation report will be provided after the course with copies of evaluation forms and signed attendance sheets. Participants will receive course certificates on completion.
